Dear Passengers,

First of all, KLM hopes all our passengers stay safe and healthy in the times of the COVID-19 crisis.

KLM has previously announced the plan is to resume flights to mainland China as of early May. However, since the situation around the coronavirus is constantly changing, passenger services to mainland China will remain suspended for the time being in compliance with China’s Covid-19-related travel restrictions. The flights between Greater China and the Netherlands are currently being operated on cargo basis, to Beijing, Shanghai, Taipei and Passenger and Cargo to Hong Kong.

KLM keeps a close eye on all developments and is in direct contact with health and aviation authorities to resume Passenger flights to mainland China once permission is granted.

During the crisis, in order to meet an enormous need for the rapid transportation of medical equipment and other supplies between the Netherlands and China, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has joined hands with Royal Philips and the Dutch government to create a special cargo air bridge, and has especially brought the Boeing 747 combi back into operation for the important cargo airlift, which will bring in a continuous stream of protective equipment. Over the next weeks, millions of medical supplies will come in to help those people who are involved in care.

The health of customers and staff is paramount in all KLM decisions. Starting 11 May, masks will be compulsory on board and during boarding on the restored flights and will remain compulsory until 31 August 2020. Passengers are responsible for providing their own face masks.

To help its customers to adjust their travel plans, KLM has put in place exceptional measures throughout its network. For more up-to-date flight information, please visit KLM.com and the KLM app, which provides 24/7 services in Chinese.
